Discharge Line Kit · For dealers

One sensor. The whole herd. Any parlour.

A retrofit for every farm on your books: one in-line analyser on the milk discharge line measures fat, protein and lactose of every litre — fitted in up to 3 hours, on any brand.

For dealers

A retrofit add-on for every farm already on your books

Not only the parlours you install from new. One unit, half a day of fitter time and a value story the farmer understands on the first visit.

Every parlour you already service

Brand-independent. Rotaries, herringbones, parallel parlours — new or 20 years old.

One unit per farm, not per stall

A single sensor covers the whole herd. Simple quote, simple install, simple support.

Half a day of fitter time

Cut the bypass to length, clamp the analyser in, mount the comms box, connect power and internet.

A story farmers already understand

“Know what you are paid for.”

No training on cow-health algorithms needed to sell it.

Proven, validated technology

Built on the technology of the ICAR-validated BHL01 analyser. The BHL02 is 3-A Sanitary certified, and the sensor already runs inside BouMatic Gemini robots.

A recurring relationship

Data subscription and yearly service keep you in contact with the farm between equipment purchases.

A path to per-cow measurement

The same technology is installed per cow — on robots and at every milking point. A farm can start on the discharge line and grow with you.

The farmer's business case

The milk cheque is not litres. It is fat and protein.

Composition is the part of the cheque a farmer can influence, and the only part he never measures himself. HerdLine changes that.

Today the only composition figure the farmer has is the buyer's — one dip sample per collection, days after the milk has left the farm.

Known before the tanker arrives

Composition of the tank is known while the milk is still on the farm — not after the payment report.

Compared with the buyer's figure

Daily on-farm fat and protein sit next to the dairy's result. Differences become visible — and documented.

Every fill, not one dip sample

Continuous measurement across each milking, instead of a single sample that depends on agitation.

Feed with numbers, not guesses

A ration or forage change shows in fat and protein within days. Milk fat depression is caught before the cheque shows it.

Results from the field

What farms do with their own milk data — on the discharge line, per cow, and inside milking robots.

Discharge lineScotland, UK
€14,000 backpayment recovered from the milk buyer

The analyser paid for itself with one phone call.

The farm's own figures caught a wrong result — and got the money back

A Scottish dairy farm compared its daily HerdLine composition with the results it received from its milk buyer.

Challenge

Like every farm, it was paid on fat and protein from the buyer's tank sample — with no measurement of its own between the parlour and the tank.

What happened

In April 2026 the buyer's results suddenly dropped to 3.29 % fat and 3.12 % protein. HerdLine, measuring every litre of the same milk, showed a steady 4.2–4.4 % fat and 3.5 % protein.

Result

With its own documented record, the farm challenged the result. The buyer made a €14,000 backpayment — more than the cost of the analyser.

HerdLine daily composition vs the buyer's tank results, Scottish farm, January–April 2026From late January to early April the buyer's results follow HerdLine closely. On 10 and 13 April the buyer reported 3.76 % and 3.29 % fat and 3.12 % protein, while HerdLine showed 4.2–4.4 % fat and 3.5 % protein.

One sensor, every week, tracking the bulk tank

Herd fat measured on the discharge line, against the bulk-tank reference on the same farm. Seasonal and ration-driven swings are visible week by week — the information a farmer and nutritionist need to act before the payment slip arrives.

Herd fat percentage, July 2024 to February 2026Weekly herd fat measured by HerdLine on the discharge line closely follows the bulk-tank reference, ranging from about 3.8 % in summer to about 4.6 % in autumn and winter.

Installation

Where it goes and how it is fitted

On the discharge line between the receiver pump and the bulk tank, with a bypass. No change to the milking equipment or the wash routine.

Milk flows from the parlour to the receiver and pump, then along the discharge line through the HerdLine analyser on a bypass, into the bulk tank. A wall-mounted comms box powers the analyser and connects to mains and internet. Cut the bypass to length

The stainless bypass section is fitted parallel to the existing discharge line.

Clamp the analyser in

No welding on farm and no change to the milking equipment.

Mount the comms box

Wall-mounted next to the line. One PoE cable to the analyser.

Connect power & internet

Dealer FAQ

Questions your team will ask

Anything else — send us a message.

Which milking systems does it work with?

It is brand-independent. It retrofits to DeLaval, GEA, BouMatic and other systems — rotaries, herringbones and parallel parlours, new or 20 years old.

Who installs it, and how long does it take?

Your fitter. Cut the bypass to length, clamp the analyser in, mount the comms box and connect power and internet — up to 3 hours. We support your first installation on site.

What does the farm need to provide?

A 2″ / DN50 discharge line, mains power for the comms box, and internet where the farm has it. Nothing changes in the milking equipment or the wash routine.

Is there any maintenance or consumables?

No reagents and no consumables. The analyser is washed with the plant by the normal CIP cycle — no daily maintenance for the farmer. Yearly service keeps you in touch with the farm.

Does it replace the laboratory or the buyer's sample?

No. HerdLine readings are management data, not the legal payment figure. The value is knowing composition before the buyer does — and having a documented record when figures differ.

How does the dealer earn?

On the kit and installation, plus a recurring relationship through the data subscription and yearly service. Pricing and dealer margins are in the dealer pack.

Does it work for goat milk?

Yes — the BHL02 is also calibrated for goat milk (RMSE fat 0.04, protein 0.05, lactose 0.07 %-pt).
